WOWOWOW!!! FANTASTIC job on these doorknobs! And glorious way of showing them off! GREAT composition. You’ve made the ordinary doorknob EXTRAORDINARY!! and they shine, too! BRAVA!
Great job on the doorknob! I actually recognize these — ours are the same, so I’m doubly impressed that you were able to make the drawing so interesting!
I really like the effect on the left side of the door - is it wet on wet watercolors? It sets an interesting mood with that ominous shadow. This is really beyond sketching - the start of something bigger perhaps?
Melissa, the dark area on the left is Photoshop blending of some watercolor that didn’t look too good in the original sketch! I wanted to show the space of the room outside the door. It was darker in that area, so I put in some dark watercolor. I was using a Niji Waterbrush on a rather large area of sketchbook paper that was not really meant for watercolor. Not a good way to lay in an even wash of color! After scanning, I used Photoshop’s Median command to blend it all together and make it into a shadow that would fit logically into the composition.
