Lamp for EverydayMatters weekly drawing challenge

clipon-lamp080704
Before our company moved last autumn, they dumped a lot of stuff. This lamp is aluminum, and the light socket rattles around in the base when you pick it up. I like the shape, the fluted sides. I’ve used it to light up plants when doing the assignments for a botanical drawing class and the instructor wanted us to use one definite light source. I didn’t quite like that way of drawing because I don’t care to work in a semi-darkened room. Usually I just "wing it" when deciding where the light is coming from in my drawings.

Primrose sketch

It’s far from spring here in the Midwest, but last week my supermarket had small primrose plants for $1 each. I bought one each in yellow, deep violet, and bright red, and have been eyeing their saturated hues (the red is already fading), and drawing them in pen and ink.
